Ouch

I'm pretty sure this hurt me more than it hurt him. He cried for a few minutes and seems to have forgotten it, however I look at it with the guilt that I should have prevented it. On a rational level I get that I am not going to be able to prevent him from getting hurt. And I am sure I will become more seasoned to him falling now that he is on the move. But on an emotional level, it really hurts to see him hurt. First time mother neurosis, right? All you Mom's that have been through this before are probably getting a chuckle out of me being so silly about this. The 'incident' happened as he was trying to pull to a stand on a milk crate I have on the kitchen floor with food for our weekend get-a-way. He slipped and hit his face on the way down. The pictures don't do it justice! I did get a nice tooth (and snotty nose/drool) shot in the second photo though!

Some pictures just catch your breath and this one did that to me. It was a "wow" moment for me in that he looks more grown up there than I am used too. He was attempting to pull himself to a stand, at which he was successful. I am in awe at the growth curve, in every aspect. I feel so blessed to be his mother & to witness him thrive.

Ryan is 10 months today

Paul and his Dad are out on the East Coast taking in a Red Sox game, Yankee game and a Mets baseball game. It's been something they have wanted to do for years. Perfectly coincided with Ryan coming down with a nasty cold/fever. He's slowly on the mend, but it's been a rough few days. Poor little guy. You can just see it in his eyes... he feels crummy.

*Heather and Bobbi* - He looks so cute in his Nike outfit, thank you!

And the Snoopy outfit he has on has some history. I bought that for my nephew Michael 16 years ago. Korryn saved it and now Ryan gets it.

Creeper Crawler!

Caught Ryan's crawling on video. Within a few days he mastered it and can no longer be left alone without securing the area he is in. At the same time he learned to crawl, he also decided that anything on the floor is fair game and probably tasty. My floor got clean real quick! I've witnessed 3 unedible objects headed to his mouth. The first being some sort of twig -- that I successfully fished out. The second a fairly good size carpet fiber, I think from the cat scratching tree -- also successfully fished out. And the third item is unknown, he was pretty darn quick with the ingestion. No harm done I guess, since this happened on Thursday.

House update, yet again

Well... It's hard to get excited over something that is not quite final, but it looks as if this home may soon be ours.

The inspection was basically clean. There was one problem that the sellers must address & and they agreed to, therefore closing should be June 13th. The sellers asked if we would move it up from June 20th, which is fine with us. So, if our financing continues to come through as planned and nothing else major pops up, we could be home owners come July! Just in time to celebrate our little man's 1st birthday! Thanks to everyone who listened to me rant as we went through this home buying process. It's an ordeal, for sure! :-)

Ryan's second Mariner's game, this time they won! M's 3, Padre's 2 (taken 5/18/08)

Walking to Safeco, in the glorious sun. I am pretty sure his eyes are telling me that he hates that hat and to get it off NOW! Never fear my young son, we brought your M's hat for the occasion. :-)
Very serious eyes
Paul and Ryan got the opportunity to sit in front of me for a good part of the game. It was fun to have Ryan in front of me, so we could chat over Paul's shoulder.

Cheerios eatin' man. Taken today at Kelsey's track meet. I have some other good pictures of Kelsey out on the track and one of her and Ryan, but Blogger and my computer on not playing well together and it's making me agitated (grrr) therefore I will stop until they can better co-exist!

Cousin Kelsey's track meet

She did awesome!

More house craziness

Well. . . our hunt for a house made it's way to this place, just on the market as of today. They were having a brief open house as I drove by to check it out. I called Paul, he left work and we took a look. Nice, livable and in an area we like a lot more than the last one. We're probably nuts, but made an offer already. My guess is that they are going to hold the other open house they have scheduled on Sunday and hope a bidding war ensues. Keep your fingers crossed there is not too much interest, so we get a chance to get an inspector in there. This process is grueling!

House Update

Sadly, we pulled our offer from the house we were interested in. The inspector went into the crawl space first because foundation safety was high on the list of importance. He pulled off the crawl space cover and said, "Dead rat... oh another one... and another one". Then finds the insulation has been some sort of critters home for quite a while (maybe a rat?!) and to top it off, the final straw, it's a brick foundation with a tremendous amount of water seepage. Not good. The inspector thinks it is an old I-5 home -- moved to it's current place when I-5 was put in. And put there poorly with a crappy foundation.
So we continue the hunt. . . .

Chatter. . and then. . . .

My intention with this video was to try and capture some of his wonderful chatter. Little did I know that a laptop computer cord would become his toy as I was filming. I watched him for a bit, then as he reached closer to the power source I thought it would be best to not let him play with something attached to an electrical outlet. That's when the mini break down happened -- it was close to bedtime, so he was tired as well. It's about 2 minutes long. Sorry for the long duration, but it's pretty cute to see him get all worked up.

Mother's Day BBQ at Kerri's home

Naptime at Kerri's. I was shocked he fell asleep on the floor, but he was there for a good hour. So cute!

Looking for that bottle he knows is stashed in there somewhere! Grandma Kathie singing Itsy Bitsy Spider with Ryan. A current fave for him.

Belated Zoo Pictures

Taken May 4, 2008
Ryan watching the otters gracefully swim by. This is by far my favorite exhibit, I could sit there for hours and watch them swim.
Alec & Ryan watching the fish in the bear exhibit.
Thank you Lindsay & Rob for the zoo photo's! Your camera took amazing pictures, I'll forever be thankful for these pictures. :-)

Few steps closer to being home owners

We put an offer on a home this week. It was accepted after one counter offer and now we await the home inspection. It's not our dream home & will need some work -- and entirely possible that it won't pass inspection. It's not been well cared for, so we wait and see. Even though it's not our dream home it's WAY better than paying rent!

CHECK UP DAY

Ryan's 9 month check up was today. I have been calling him my 20 pound turkey and sure enough, we've crossed the 20 pound mark -- hitting 20 lbs 10 oz., & 28 inches. Weight is 55% and length is 50%. We've come a long way from 6 lbs 6 oz. and 18-1/2 inches :-)

Gotcha in the picture Amy!

This is Ryan wondering why it's getting warm and wet underneath him! I just glad he missed the nurse. My rule while working in pediatrics, is patients don't pee on the nurse! In general they cooperate, but I have been hit a few times.

Teething biscuit aftermath

We needed some distraction today and the teething biscuit did the trick. He managed to eat the entire thing, all by gnawing it to mush.

We went to the zoo on Sunday for the first time. I was a bad Mommy and forgot my camera! Fortunately our friends Alec and his Mommy brought their camera and snapped a few pictures. As soon as I get them, I will post. The first trip to the zoo is a milestone, right? I imagine we will be making many more trips there since it's so close.
