 Seahawks!
Seattle held a rally for fans to celebrate the Superbowl win.  Early estimates on how many people would be downtown was, oh about 300,000.  In the end the estimate was somewhere between 700,000 and a million fans.  It was INSANE.  Paul took the day off work. We kept Ryan and Kathryn out of school to be a part of this momentous occasion in Seattle history.
Attempts to take Seattle metro downtown to even get to the parade was just laughable. 3 buses in 40 minutes just drove right by, they were packed.  We drove, remarkably found a spot - and you can see our view below. Easily 15 people deep from the street and we were 2 hours early!  In the end, it will always be a day in Seattle history, glad we were a part of it.
Oh, and it was about 28 degrees!  But at least no rain.  : )

Mid February we got a bit of snow, maybe 3 inches.  It fell Saturday night, into Sunday morning - giving the perfect opportunity for fun and sledding.

Our neighbor friends - Allison and Cooper, then Ryan in back.
Valentine's treats for my loved ones. : )
My January post was on how 2014 had been tough for illnesses in the family.  Little did I know then - we had more on the way.  Literally 2 days after I wrote that post, I came down with strep throat.  Ugh. The older I get, the worse that illness is!
10 days later - I get a call from Ryan's school he's not feeling well.  By that evening he had a 103 fever.  For about 72 hours he was under house arrest with 102-104 temps.  Fever broke - he played with his friends on President's Day holiday.  Tuesday morning comes along, he says he doesn't feel well, temp back up to near 104.  : (     The Tuesday after President's Day is one of the busier days in the office I work in.  If I had called in sick, it would have been a very rough day for my friends/co-workers.  Ryan also needed to be seen by the doctor, so I packed him up. Grabbed his pillow, blanket and my kindle for him to watch  movies so I could work (in the phone triage office - I was with him most of the time).  He had an appointment that morning. . . . and he's got pneumonia.  Poor little guy!  Also a double ear infection to boot.  Got some good antibiotics in the system and within about 5 days he was back to the Ryan we all know.

Two nights later. . . . the tell-tale sound of croup coming from Kathryn's room.  Barky, wheezy cough and nearly squeaking when she talked.  Fortunately it was a clear very cool night. Kathryn and I sat outside for 30 minutes, listening to songs from the movie Frozen and calmed her airway down.  She fared better than her brother - within 3 days she was back to her spunky self.
Ryan, resting in the phone triage office.
This little swimmer is flying through swim lessons.  Every session she gets moved up to the next challenging session and her instructor suggested swim team for her when she is 5 or 6!  You go girl! I always wanted to be on a swim team, but it never worked out with where we were living at the time, as I grew up. So I hope to live vicariously through that little one.
And lastly. . . my latest creation.
I made it for the February birthday celebration at work. Conveniently I'm the only February birthday so it was a cake to celebrate me!  I wanted to challenge myself and do the biggest cake I have ever attempted.  It went well, tasted good, looked good.
It did take about 8 hours to make/decorate however!
