Kathryn's UW study

This one got the chance to be a part of a longitude study about language and development, the University of Washington.
She got paid and they made it very fun for her.  Part of the study included a Magnetic Imagine scan (the first picture - after she got hooked up, she sat in a room with a large contraption over her head)
2nd picture is the MRI.   She had to lie still for 60 minutes with one break in between, watching a movie while they did the scan.  She was a star through it all!
She can do it all again when she is 11 years old, if she is still game to keep going.
 Ready to go in!
They gave us multiple pictures of her brain afterwards, but this is my favorite.  The rectangle seen on the scan is just the computer cursor - not a foreign body!
So fascinating!
Lastly, this was a present to ME.
I have been in this house 10 years.   Got the new windows in the spring of this year.   This week I got blinds that I love to cover them all.  Sounds silly to say blinds make me happy, but truly I have worked hard to make these changes and make my house my home.  So grateful.
Next big hurdle - new furnace.
Just learned that our very old oil furnace is leaking a small amount of CO2 each time it runs.
Not good.  😦
My plan is to switch to natural gas, but am learning this is going to be quite a long process - but I have gotten this far, this won't stop me either!
