Summer!

Ahhh, summer.  All parents say, watch out the school year goes fast.  Indeed it does. Ryan completed kindergarten and loved every minute of it.  Well, except art class.  Not so fond of that.  Recess. . . that's the best according to him. The next best: math.  His father's kid, for sure.  Reading has been a challenge and he's still not quite there.  He progressed from completely HATING every attempt to put sounds together to form a word, to happily sounding out small words.  His attention span for that is in minutes though.  Next year, will be his learn to read year, I am thinking.
He participated in his first ever Shoreline Christian School Jog-a-Thon.  An elementary school tradition/fundraiser. Ryan earned over $400 for the school, running 22 laps total.  His Dad promised him some Hot Wheels if he made it past 20 laps, so by George he was going to do that.

Ryan's passion for bike riding is gigantic.  Daily, in the evening Paul and Ryan venture out, often going to a local park to watch a baseball game.  Below, pictured is a hike Ryan and I did from our home down to Carkeek Park.  It's pretty much all down hill there, which obviously leaves all up hill home.  Walking the bike up hill was necessary, but that kid did not give up.  I think we walked/rode 8 miles round trip. On that hike, we were on a trail on the way in to the park and passed a huge tree with a sign on it, stating it was due for removal by the parks dept because of age and safety concerns.  Ryan and I play at the park, play at the beach, then head home on that same path.  In the hour we were at the park, that same tree fell on the path, where we had to walk and where I had stopped to read that very sign saying it was going to be removed.  Eerie.

My Little Miss Kathryn, pointing to what she thinks will be HER locker next year when she goes to HER kindergarten!  To say she is looking forward to it, is an understatement.  Both kids will be in full day school.  What a life style change for the whole family come September 3rd!
"Mom, take a picture of me while I pose on this monkey!"
Last day of preschool traditionally ends with a day at the zoo.
Fun times and it was sad, yet wonderful to say good bye to all the fabulous preschool staff.

Last day of kindergarten.
The boy would not quit being silly!

Ryan and his teacher Mrs. Visser.
She will be Kathryn's teacher next year as well.
