Spring Break, House Paint & more

Spring Break in Leavenworth, WA.  We stayed at Icicle Lodge hotel.  Decent place and not very many people.  Lots of time spent in the game room and pool.  It was an absolutely gorgeous few days.  Those mountains!

Painted the house!  Well, I hired someone to do it.   I tested 5 colors even though only 3 are shown in the photo.  I picked the color on the left.   Called "Ice Cube".  It was essentially the same as the current color. I am so pleased with the results.  Also had some dry rot siding removed/replaced.
The picture shows how dirty the house was - somewhat shocking.

Two recent cakes.
The yellow is a lemon cake with lemon cream cheese frosting and a lemon curd filling.  The frosting was good.  The cake was meh.  New recipe, I probably won't use again

Now this one - Thin Mint inspired cake.  It was REALLY good.

Memorial Day 2021
Was far more than just the two pictures shown.
Ryan & Kathryn spent 3 nights on Korryn and Wayne's boat, I joined them for the last night.
They stayed in Port Ludlow with the Meydenbauer Yacht Club (Korryn and Wayne are in the club).
It was a great weekend. Met a lot of fun, nice people.  The boating community is a tight knit supportive group.  The kids could roam the grounds freely.  Weather was amazing.
For me, on the ferry ride over to join them Saturday the Captain of the ferry gets on the intercom and says "Whale whale whale, there is a pod of whales in front headed southbound"
I happened to be in the right spot on the ferry and saw them!  They were far in the distance, but saw their water spouts and tail fins as they got close to the surface.   Such a cool thing to see, I feel privileged. 🐳

Slowly my dream of converting to a gas range is happening.  The range was supposed to be installed same day as the range hood pictured below.  However it's been pushed back to a July install since it's coming from Germany and has to go through customs.  Rumor is that everything is severely delayed due to Covid.  I won't be surprised if it gets pushed even farther back when July rolls around.  I did get the hood installed.  Pictured is before and after.  The new hood looks great, but unfortunately once installed it was malfunctioning.  The circuit breaker is turned off because if it's on, the fan automatically turns on and has a high pitch whine.  No problem.  Except that same circuit breaker controls the bathroom lights, hallway lights and power in Ryan's room!  Getting through to the correct people to fix this issue took a small tantrum from me, letting them know it's unacceptable to not hear from the company/repair personnel in a timely manner.  Especially since I paid to have it installed and it is a brand new appliance.  Eventually I was heard and have a date to get it fixed (approximately one month after initial installation!)

Lastly, today is the last day of school for Ryan and Kathryn.  Ryan moves on to 8th grade and Kathryn to 7th.  Both will attend Shoreline Christian again next year.  Ryan wanted to move to a bigger public school this year, but since all public schools stayed remote for the majority of the year he agreed to stay at SCS.  It was an easy decision to stay at SCS again for 8th grade because he did not want to start a new school when they were still trying to figure out life post Covid.  Shoreline Christian rocked it this year.  Only one case of Covid all year (a child in Kathryn's class) but it was dealt with swiftly and no spread to anyone else.  So very impressed with the school and how damn hard they worked to be in person and keep everyone safe.
