End of School & Summer!

Eek, so much for my goal of posting every month.  I looked at the blog today, thinking my last post was last month, come to find out it was March.  Where did April and May go?  And here it is the final days of June.
The end of the school year flew by.
In May the school held it's annual jog-a-thon. This takes weeks of training and the school allows for it to be so exciting and such a positive event for the kids.  The students are encouraged to train at home and they train during one of the 3 recesses.  They have the option to run at the other 2 recesses as well.  Ryan took them up on it, nearly every day.  He'd come home with his hand filled with marker - tallies marking how many laps he'd done.  He was in the 30's some days.  Kathryn, well she wasn't so much in to the extra training.  There was more playing to be done.  Of the 81 elementary students, Ryan was #15 and Kathryn #16 of most money raised for the school by people pledging/supporting them.
Ryan ran 24 laps = 3 miles
Kathryn ran 21 laps = 2.6 miles

Ryan started and completed his first year in Little League.  It went incredibly well.  He learned a lot, and got to have his Dad help assistant coach.  Ryan loved every minute of baseball, was sad when it was over and made some good friends that we hope to meet up with again next baseball season.

2014-2015 school year came to an end on June 17th.
Kathryn completed kindergarten.
Ryan completed 1st grade.
Kathryn has a solid grasp on reading and Ryan is a full fledged reader now.  Ryan's passion is still numbers and math.  As for Kathryn, I am not sure what makes her tick yet with her academics.

A few days after school was out we took our first summer trip, compliments of Aunt Karol.  It was a 7 hour drive to get there, but very worth the wait.  Kathryn may not agree, she was car sick all the way there, and partially on the way home.  Let's hope that is not a long term thing for her.
We traveled to Bend, Oregon.  An amazingly beautiful area of Oregon!
Hiking, swimming, so many outdoor activities.
Fantastic parks, no Seattle traffic.
I could move there.
